The Alabama musical style blends elements of rock, country, and Americana, while Cooley is recognized for his sharp, evocative lyrics and distinctive guitar work. Alongside bandmate Patterson Hood, he has been a driving force behind the band’s evolution since its late 1990s formation. Cooley released his debut solo album, The Fool on Every Corner, in December 2012. The album showcases his storytelling prowess and poignant, introspective songs in a more stripped-down, intimate sound.
