The 22nd annual Wild Rice Festival returns to Harriet Alexander Nature Center for a celebration of wild rice, the fall season, and Dakota and Ojibwe culture. Free to the public. Fun and educational activities include wild rice processing demonstrations, a wild rice taste test, Ojibwe and Dakota language learning, and a marketplace featuring Native artists, wild foods, and more. Food available for purchase from Pow Wow Grounds, Wild Harvest Lemonade, and Olivera’s Authentic Mexican Food. Scheduled performances: 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM — Little Earth Singers & Dancers, traditional Native American dancing and drumming; 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM — Jeffery Chapman, traditional Ojibwe flutemaker and player.
